A.L. East gets surprise TEX Message from Yankees!!!
Mark Teixiera will be a New York Yankee for the next 8 seasons!
What!
Yes you heard me….Brian “The Ca$hman” and H&H Steinbrenner have opened the valult in order to ensure the fans have a winner in the new ball-park this spring and signed the super-star first baseman to an 8 year $180 million dollar contract.
The news of discussions between the Yankees and Tex and his agent Scott Boras have been widely discussed as on the periphery since the winter meetings in early Decemeber. While the Yankees have beem seemingly uninviolved during the entire negotiation process it appears that Casman was just lying in the weeds and wating to see what it would take to put Tex in Pinstripes. It was thought that the most likely destination would be Boston but as the Sox seemed to have hit a ceiling for the gold glove slugger at $168 million Mr. Boras made the call.
Boras contacted GM Brian Cashman to tell him that his client wants to be a Yankee, and for $12 million over the Sox offer now he is. This signing caps what has been a momumental and franchise changing off season in NY. They aqcuired a switch-hitter, gold glove first baseman who provides the compiment to Arod they been looking for.
The news radiatied through the media channels Tuesday afternoon, and in Boston you could hear a pin drop. “how could this happen?”…..”how did they swoop in like that?”
The Yankees stole the prized off-season possesion on the Boston club and reminded them why you can never sleep on their hated rivals. They have now ensured to have Arod, Teixiera, CC, for the next 6 years.
The New York Yankees are now the team to beat. All i can say is…
HOW’S THAT TASTE SOX FANS!!
Manny being ManN.Y. ???
News from the AP is that the Yanks are “pushing hard” after Manny and are mulling offereing him a 3 year deal worth $22-25 million per season.
I know what you are all thinking…”we dont need guys like him” and what i say to that is YES WE DO!
Manny Ramirez could possibly be the best right handed hitter of all time and would completely erase the possibly signing of Mark Teixiera by the Dead Sox. When he is focused he can not be stopped and just imagine how focused he would be during the 18 games played against Boston. This is also the guy they need to protect Arod. That combo would rival what Manny and Papi did in Boston.
The other voice I hear is “where will he play” “what about Matsui”. What I say to that is the Yankees can worry about that after. Manny can DH play LF of even RF (although that is not recommended)
I say bring the Man-Ram to N.Y.!! Matsui has not been able to stay healthy, and Cashman has be exploring ways to move him over the past 2 seasons. The bottom line is that Manny is a game altering force that few, if any uin MLB history, can match.
more to come on this…….
Update…CC, A.J. OK….What’s Next?
Got Melk or not!
First off i would like to update the Melky for Cameron situation. It appears this deal will get don and the hold-up appears to be that the Yankees are trying to dump some dead weight in Kei Igawa and the Brewers do not want to pay much, if any, of his ridiculous $12 million salary. Who could blame them! While Igawa could possible become serviceable in the Senior circuit it is painfully obvious to Yankee fans he will never make it in the Bronx.
Yank’s adding Tex or Manny too?
According to many people close to the organization the Yankees are still seriously involved in the Mark Texierra sweepstakes. It has been largely reported that the Red Sox and Angels are the main players with the Orioles and Nationals also making offers, but it appears the Yankees now feeling confident about the rotation are ready to add a little protection for ARod.
But the same connected voices insist if the Yankees don’t land the switch-hitting first baseman, they will turn their money toward controversial slugger Manny Ramirez.
“If they can’t get Teixeira, they are right there on Manny,” an official with knowledge of the Yankees’ plan said yesterday.
It remains to be seen if the Sox are willing to go to the length or amount that Tex’s agent Scott Boras is looking for. While the Angels have already offered 8 years and at least $160 million the Sox seem to be willing to go above that yearly amount but not the length of contract.
One year after Santana…
It is amusing to me to listen to all the hatred and negativity surrounding the Yankees recent moves. One year ago the Brian Cashman was crucified for not giving up Phil Hughes in order to get Johan Sanatana. Cashman did not want ot lose the top prospects involved and pay Sanatana $137.5 milion and the Yankees paid for it with a 3rd place finish. Now this year Cashman goes out and gets 2 great starters and the Yankees are villified for it. So it was terrbile to not get Sanatana, and Yanks are ruining baseball because they paid basically the same contract with an added year to CC? Is it me or does that sound mildly ridiculous?
The fact is that the Yankees payroll is currrently less this year than last even with the addtions of Sabathia and Burnett.YES IT IS!…Look it Up!
Marlins owner just another “hater”
What is the deal with the Owner of th FLorida Marlins shooting his mouth off about what the Yankees spend comparing them to a “drunken sailor”
It amazing to me that another owner would have something like that to say…oh wait!
He owns that team that draws 8,000 fans!
I wonder if he is gonna rip the Sox, Angels or Nats when one of them give Tex basically the same contract as CC.
Let me see… a 28 year old lefthanded ACE with 98mph gas, and 2 great secondary pitches. Why would the Yankees want to pay him? Are you serious? No wonder your team is terrible!
Im so sick fo all the hater’s out there. The fact is that players and agents know the Yankees have the money so they will always be forced to pay more. Also playing in NY is not like playing in Florida or Milwakee, or even LA. When you go to NY the pressure is greater, the expectations are greater, and the scrutiny is far greater. SO yes they over paid for the BEST free agent pitcher, but they have the money and must compensate for those variables.
Maybe he should just keep his mouth shut and enjoy the luxuary tax money he is gonna put in his bank acct instead of spending it on a free agent.
Hot Stove….
With the addition of CC Sabathia the Bronx Bombers have addressed one glaring need for a bonified “Ace”. While they are far from don and seemed poised to land 2 more pitchers form AJ Burnett, Derek Lowe, and Ben Sheets the move made today could prove to loom just as large for the upcoming season.
The Yankees traded young Melky Cabrera to Milwakee for Mike Cameron. This allows them to have a actual professional baseball player in CF and someone who is not going to crumble under the bright lighs of NYC like the Melk Man seemed to be. Let’s face it..Melky was gonna be an average player at best with a great arm. Cameron is gold glover with speed and power and solidifies the outfield and keeps Johnny Damon in LF.
This is a huge small move for the Yanks. Cameron is a proven player and is only on the hook for this year. They have Austin Jackson bening molded in AA and Brett Garnder as the perfect 4th OF/pinch runner.
There will be much more to come during this off season, and while the Yankees are far from declaring themselves a favorite again they are progressing about as nicely as anyone could have expected thus far.
I know the 5 year $80 million offer to Burnett is scary cause of his injury history, but he is still relatively young and has proven he can pitch in th AL. Its gonna be intersteing to see what’s next….
